Episode 12- Kim Arazi: Is technology numbing our senses?
Thursday Jun 04, 2020
Thursday Jun 04, 2020
Is technology numbing our senses? In this episode host Camilla Laxton chats to Kim Arazi, a sensory experience designer, and Ted Talk speaker, to find out how we can get into our senses and start thinking in a different way and feel a deeper connection to our inner self, to each other and to our environment.
Kim Arazi tells us about her journey of creating her company Innosensi, and how the challenges during the lockdown has inspired her to find new workarounds and breakthroughs. Addressing the feelings of loneliness and disconnection, she came up with a new concept- the virtual table project. This is a multisensory dining experience, which helps you connect with your inner self and activates your senses through sounds and smells.
As Kim awakens our inner curiosity about her exciting project, we can’t help but ask: how can this be beneficial to our business world; how can we help our children tap back into their senses; and how the pandemic presents the perfect opportunity to pause, reflect and see things in an innovative and pioneering way.
And as we wrap up things, Kim sums it up well- “By resurrecting our senses through immersive experiences, we can learn to challenge assumptions, bring awareness to our biases, break down barriers and become more empathetic, conscious human beings. And maybe preserve our humanity.”
So, if you are ready to wake up your senses, tune in and listen to this show.
